Founded in 2009 by the Governors of the 19 northern states of Nigeria, along with associates and admirers of the late Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation (SABMF) is a non-governmental organization committed to continuing his legacy of leadership, good governance, and socio-economic development.
We design and implement impactful programs, collaborate with global and local partners, and promote initiatives that uplift the northern region and contribute to national unity and progress.
To be a catalyst for peace, unity, and sustainable development in Northern Nigeria.
To promote the legacy of Sir Ahmadu Bello through programs that foster leadership, education, entrepreneurship, and health for the socio-economic advancement of the region.
Conduct research on the life and legacy of Sir Ahmadu Bello.
Design and implement development programs across Northern Nigeria.
Promote values of leadership, tolerance, accountability, and transparency.
Empowering over 2,900 women and youth across the 19 Northern States through vocational and soft skills training, including the Almajiri Skills Acquisition Project in collaboration with MacArthur Foundation.
880 science and tech students in public universities have benefited from annual scholarships worth β¦100,000 each.
Free medical outreaches, traditional birth attendant trainings, solar-powered boreholes, and blast care training for over 200 health professionals.
Major conferences, research, and projects including transforming the Almajiri system and launching the First Arewa University (in progress).
Annual memorial lectures addressing Northern Nigeriaβs most pressing issues, with prominent figures like Prof. PLO Lumumba, HRH Justice Sidi Bage, and Bishop Matthew Kukah.
Honoring outstanding Nigerians like Gen Yakubu Gowon, Hon Justice Maryam Aloma Mukhtar, and Imam Abubakar Abdullahi for their exemplary service.
Building the next generation of northern leaders through mentoring scholarship recipients and youth ambassadors across the 19 Northern States.
