Northern Education Review Summit Critical stakeholders from the 19 northern states and FCT to reviewed the situation of education in the region. January 15 of each year is earmarked by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation to mark the unfortunate demise of Sir Ahmadu Bello, Premier of the Northern Region, the Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, and many other illustrious leaders of the North on January 15, 1966. The day is marked with the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Annual Lecture, in remembrance of the qualities of leadership and good governance they epitomized, and to discuss topical issues to proffer solutions to the nation’s socio - economic challenges for sustainable peace, unity and progress of the North and Nigeria.
The Foundation as part of its mandate to develop and empower women and youths in the Northern region has conducted series of training under its Women Vocational Entrepreneurship Development Programme (WVEDP), in order to develop the knowledge, skills and competencies of beneficiary women and youth on entrepreneurship. A total of 2,900 beneficiaries were trained.
The Foundation distributed essential relief materials to the state governments of Kogi, Edo, Benue, Plateau, Kaduna, Niger, Kwara, Taraba, Adamawa and Sokoto for victims of flood disasters in 2012.
In June 2013, basic relief materials were presented to Borno State Government for victims of insurgency in Bama and Baga areas of the state. In addition, the Foundation made cash donations to Borno State Government to assist the IPDs.
- The Foundation had embarked on visits to three states namely; Bauchi, Borno and Yobe in February 2013 for as Peace and Unity Mission. It was led by Hon. Justice Mamman Nasir, CFR, and Chairman of Advisory Council. - SABMF in June 2018, participated in a National Consultation Forum organized by the International Action Network on Small Arms (IANSA).
The Foundation has partnered with Fahasa, Saliminah and Hadis Foundation to implement Nurturing of New Generation Farmers; Project Nurture in Zaria, Kaduna State. The Project under the intervention had trained 12 women and youth on new farming skills; Constructed storage facility, and security house; Drilled a borehole and procured a thrasher for the farm. The intervention supports Youths and Women on a pilot scale, and it consists of integrated commercial farming, organic fertilizer making, modern harvesting and post-harvest training for the beneficiaries
